Breaking Bad Series Finale Review/Series Retrospective

Ugh. Where do I even begin? In my previous write up of an episode of Breaking Bad from Season 5, I stated that this is by far my favorite show ever. Not only is that still the truth, it is absolutely the best show I have ever watched. No other show has had me this hooked, made me want more, and made me want to re watch it so damn much. I watched the finale last night, I then ended up watching the last 15 minutes before I went to sleep, and watched it again today when my Mom got home. To still get chills and goosebumps after seeing how the show ends three times, knowing EXACTLY what is going to happen...it says something about how great this show truly was.

Think about how this show starts off. You find out Walt has lung cancer. At that time he's a extremely smart family man who is doing everything he can to basically pay the bills and take care of the family. To see how much the man changed in the span of 5 seasons (or a couple years show wise...yeah. It wasn't that much time.) it's mind blowing. This show is the only show that comes to mind that I can't say "Oh, that season dragged." or "That episode was fucking AWFUL!" The only episode I can do without is The Fly. Even that episode isn't bad! Vince Gilligan is a fucking genius.

Not only did you see the change in Walt, you saw how much Jesse grew, how much Hank grew, how much Walt Jr. loved breakfast! What more could you want from a show? It's heartbreaking that I even have to write this...I wish this show was still on going. However, I am SO fucking thankful that they ended it how/when they did. They could have easily dragged the show out for another 3-4 seasons, but they didn't. I wish more shows would take a note from Breaking Bad and end on a high note, and not drag it out for far too long. So for that, I say thank you very much.

Now on to the episode. I thought it was an absolutely beautiful way to end Breaking Bad. First of all, I predicted a few things that were going to happen (the obvious, of course.) but even the things I predicted, I didn't come close to how they were going to happen. I was also happily surprised that my prediction of Jesse dying didn't come true. I'm so happy he made it out alive, he absolutely deserved to live on. I'm also SO fucking happy that he was the one to take out Todd...because fuck Todd.

That's another thing I'd like to touch on, the ability this show had to make you love and hate characters, and then love the characters you hate, and hate the ones that you loved. Take shows like Dexter for example. There were characters that were just SOOOOO fucking annoying and unlikable, that it made it damn near impossible to care about what was happening. It wasn't the way you'd want your audience to dislike a character, it was a "go away, why are you here?" kind of hate. Breaking Bad did it right. On they very same episode of Breaking Bad, I knew I hated Walt. But for a split second, they had me loving him and rooting for him again...but within the span of a minute they gave me a reason to hate him again...and I was like..oh yeah, Walt's a piece of shit.

But lets get back to the episode, shall we? Just seeing the final couple of days of Walt's life was fantastic. Finally hearing him admit to Skyler that he loved doing what he did, and admitting that he was good at it...that was so fucking good. Seeing him set up how he was going to kill the Skinheads was so bad ass...basically everything about this episode was great. We got closure, everything that needed to happen...happened. Walt took out anyone who could possibly continue on cooking his meth outside of his partner, Jesse. Jesse also not taking Walt's orders anymore and making Walt die slowly was a great fuck you as well. 

The way Walt died was beautiful. Him alone with his babies, that's how it should have been done. The song choice was fabulous as well, it was just perfect. My guess is that Jesse goes and takes care of Brock and tries to finally live the life that he deserves. Thank you so much, Breaking Bad. No other show has made this big of an impact on me. Thankfully we all have Saul's spin-off/prequel to look forward to...so YAAAAAAY!

Superbad Review/Love Fest.

Yep, I just gave Superbad 5 stars. Wanna know why I did such a thing? I fucking love this movie. I don't know if there's a person in this world that has as much of raging boner for this movie as I do. I mean, there's a fucking Bad Religion poster just randomly placed in this movie. HOW COULD I NOT LOVE IT?!!?!

See, I told you so.

So what can I say about this movie? First of all, it's up there for me as one of the best comedy films I have ever seen. I know a lot of people would say that's a bold statement and that I'm overrating the fuck out of this movie, but suck it. This is my review and I can say whatever the fuck I please. Second of all, it spawned my love for Emma Stone...oh how I love her so much.

"Bobby, will you marry me?!"

So yeah, she's pretty great. Another thing about this movie is that it's one of the few movies where Michael Cera doesn't annoy the hell out of me. Don't get me wrong, he's by no way the best part of this movie. He's actually kinda just there for me when it comes to this movie, which is better than some of the other things he has been in. I'd say the highlight of this movie has to be Seth Rogen and Bill Hader.

Seriously...so fucking good.

This movie is actually pretty heart warming when you sit back and think about it. It's a story about two best friends who are going to pretty much "break up" due to going to different schools. They're both growing up, finding their first real loves, and all that sappy shit. Which leads to absolute chaos, in the most amazing way possible. Did I mention dick pictures?! THERE ARE PLENTY OF THOSE!!

Yep.

Basically what this movie comes down to for me is this: friends growing up and trying to go from High School to being adults. Add a bunch of hilarious moments, and you get a really great movie. I would like to point out that Michael Cera's character is a way better man than I ever will be. When that Becca chick offers to give him the best blow j ever...and he turns it down because she's drunk...yeah. Don't know if I could have turned that one down.

On second thought..I know I couldn't turn that down.

Jonah Hill is great in this movie as well. Now that I think about it, he might be the true highlight for me. I just want to have a friend who is exactly like his character in this movie. He also some how bags Emma Stone in the end, lucky son of a fucking bitch. But for serious, this movie is great. If you disagree, you're dumb and your opinion really doesn't matter. So fuck off.

Movie of the Week: A Nightmare on Elm Street

So up until now when I do a movie of the week, I have always suggested a documentary. But I've finally decided to switch things up this week, and suggest one of my all time favorite films. Clearly, I'll be talking about A Nightmare on Elm Street. (By the way, there is a FANTASTIC documentary about the entire series called "Never Sleep Again". If you haven't seen it, check it out.) So I'm going to do my best to explain why I truly love this movie.

First of all, the first time I saw this movie...I was scared absolutely shitless. Even to this day, there are moments that freak me the fuck out. Movies don't really do that to me anymore, but for obvious reasons, this movie does it. This was one of the only movies in this series where Freddy isn't a wise cracking Anti-Hero. He's just a burnt up, scary, child murderer/molester, and a complete mind fuck. He gets his rocks off by building up to the kill.

Now I guess I should explain the "back story". Freddy killed and molested local children. He got caught. For the sake of the movie, he got away with it because some bull shit. The parents were all angry and shit...so they hunted him down and burned him alive. And for reasons not really explained until the 6th fucking movie in the franchise (Don't watch it, it's terrible.), he can now haunt their children's dreams. I guess if you molest and kill children and are then killed by local parents, you end up with special haunt the people who killed you's children's dreams powers...with the ability to kill them in the dream, leading to them dying in real life.

But any how, back to why I love this movie. It's absolutely unique. Freddy isn't just a faceless and silent killer. He's absolutely terrifying. Seriously, look at him. That's fucking scary. Back around the time this movie came out, and pretty much the rest of the 80s for that matter, there was a flood of shitty generic slasher flicks. To me, this is one of the absolute best horror movies...ever. Sure you have some pretty mediocre acting, but you also have Johnny Depp! Yay! I really wish I could have seen his entire death scene. From what I've heard, the idea for the full death was fantastic.

I suppose to wrap this whole thing up, I adore this movie. Great and creative death scenes (especially for the time), a very unique story, and one of, if not THE best horror movie villains of all time. Of course Hollywood had to go ahead and ruin this by making a bunch of really shitty sequels, and a remake....THAT I FUCKING HATE AND WISH IT NEVER HAPPENED...AND FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK! But seriously, if you are one of the unfortunate few who has never seen this movie, do yourself a favor and watch this movie. It's an absolute treat.

Why I love South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut

Well I might as well say this right off the bat. I love South Park. It's probably one of, if not my favorite cartoon of all time. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are both comedic geniuses. I've been watching this show since it first came out, making me about 7 at the time. (Yeah, my parents were pretty terrible. <3) So when I first heard about this movie...I was so happy.

When I first saw this movie, I was still a little kid. Most of the jokes in the movie went WAAAAAY over my head. For example, Stan trying to find out where the clitoris is. Yeah, no normal 9 year old is going to know what the fuck that means. Yet, I still loved this movie to death. Maybe because as a kid, a movie full of songs is just something I would just love. Throw in South Park characters, and little kid me was in love.

Now later on in life when I was old enough to understand this movie, I REALLY REALLY REALLY loved this movie. I kinda knew what a clitoris is, the fact that this movie is making fun of the show and all the shit they deal with, and all of the other crazy adult humor. There is just something about this movie that makes me able to watch it at any time and not grow tired of it. I actually went to bed with this movie on last night!

The songs they wrote for this movie are not only great, but so damn memorable. Besides the fact that once you hear one of them, it's going to get stuck in your head. Plus...Metallica shows up when Kenny goes to hell and parody themselves...so fucking good. From start to finish, the songs in this movie are seriously fantastic.

They eventually did a 2 episode "sequel" to the movie in season 4, introducing Chriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis. A solid follow up to the movie, if you ask me. I would suggest this movie to people...but seriously?! If you haven't ever seen this movie, what the fuck are you doing with your life? Why are you even reading this? You're dumb, go away.

The Office Series Finale Review/Series Retrospective

Well, tonight was the final episode of The Office...ever! So not only am I going to talk about the series finale, I'm going to talk about the show in general. The show had already gone on for 4 seasons before I finally watched an episode. I was bored hanging out with a friend, who convinced me to watch the first episode of The Office. I was pretty much hooked at that point, although the first season is one that I tend to not go back and watch much of. I enjoyed it for what it was, but there are only a couple episodes I actually still enjoy. The show didn't really hit it's groove and find its place until the second season.

You've obviously got the love story of Jim and Pam, which leads to one of, if not the best season finale of the entire series. When Jim finally confesses his love for Pam, with the reaction she gives him, it's absolutely heart breaking. I love season two so much. It has plenty of great Michael Scott moments, plenty of build up for the Jim and Pam relationship, and quite a lot of great moments featuring the rest of the office in general. It's really one of the best seasons of the show in my opinion.

Season three is another one of my favorite seasons. Jim has now left, leading to the introduction of Karen and Andy. Karen is now Jim's new love interest after being shot down by Pam, and Andy is a more annoying/more realistic Dwight at first. When the branches merge and Jim and Pam are reunited, it leads to plenty of awkward moments. It also ends up making you just root for them to finally get together, which finally happens at the end of the season. (FINALLY!)

Season four for me was the last "great" season. I feel like this is where the show peaked. Jim and Pam were both still funny, Michael was great, Dwight and Andy are awesome, and you get plenty of awesome Kevin moments. Who doesn't love a good Kevin moment? He fucking rules. Seriously. Kevin is the best. His Kool-Aid man face is priceless. This is the season more so than any other that I'll put on when I'm going to sleep and watch. I just love it so much. This show has just been one of my favorite shows ever.

Season five had it's moments for me. The stress relief episode was great, as was the weight loss episode. But it just felt like there were too many "meh" episodes, and not enough good ones. That's where the show continues to go down hill for me. I'll pretty much wrap it up by saying that seasons 6-8 for me felt really lack luster. Robert California was awful, Nelly sucked for quite a while, Will Ferrell being absolutely unlikable and unfunny, Jim and Pam becoming the most boring couple ever, Andy and Erin trying to be the replacement for those two and failing....I could go on and on. I felt like this show should have ended after season 6, but they obviously had plans to continue on, so we were left dealing with a few lack luster seasons.

Season 9 for me ended up being a pretty good, not great season. For me, a major flaw has been the later seasons going 20+ episodes. It ends up giving you way too many filler episodes, and not enough good episodes that left an impact. However, the last couple of episodes were so damn great. They left you pretty much wanting to cry. I've been saying for the past few years how this show has over stayed its welcome, and how I wanted it to end. But now that it actually is over, I really don't want it to be.

The last episode takes place a year after the documentary was done filming. It's time for Dwight and Angela's wedding, so the episode focuses on Jim giving Dwight surprise bachelor presents. You end up seeing Dwight using a bazooka...seriously. So fucking awesome. This episode gives you quite a few heart warming moments, that if you weren't such a man you would be crying like a God damn baby. But I'm a man, so I didn't cry...I held back the tears. It was really great seeing former cast members come back for this episode. Kelly, Ryan, Carol, and...

MICHAEL FUCKING GOD DAMN SHIT ASS FUCKING DAMN SHIT SCOTT CAME BACK! I mean, you knew he had to. It really just wouldn't have made much sense or had nearly the impact without him. Jim and Dwight's reactions to seeing him were so priceless. A person who feels actual human emotions would have been crying so hard at this point. Michael doesn't say too much in this episode, but it was so great to see him back. The show basically wraps up with Jim and Pam making plans for their new life, and everyone recalling their time on the documentary. It was such a beautiful way to end such a great show.

I feel like they couldn't have done any more to wrap this show up. This finale made up for this show going on entirely too long, at least for me. I'm truly going to miss not being able to see new episodes of this show anymore, but damn did it leave with a bang. This will be one that I'll keep on the DVR and watch quite a few times over the next few years. Thanks a bunch to The Office for all of the great memories!

Movie of the Week: Sonic The Hegdehog: The Movie

Let me start with a story. For those of you who don't know, I'm a huge Sonic the Hedgehog fan. I fell in love with the character when my dad traded our Nintendo and games in and got the Sega Genesis with two games to start; Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse and the original Sonic The Hedgehog. Not long after that, I got Sonic 2, Sonic 3(This as a Link To A Video Of Me Playing Sonic 3!), Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bead Machine, Sonic Spinball, Sonic and Knuckles and so on. I bought the comics and stayed up late to watch the sneak peak of the cartoon on TGIF on ABC introduced by Jaleel White (at the time I didn't make the connection that it was introduced by the guy who voiced the cartoon Sonic). I even drew pictures on Sonic and my teacher bought me stickers cuz he was on them. I was hooked, and had everything Sonic I could. And one day, at the mall with my mom, we were at the games store Babbage's and there it was. The Sonic The Hedgehog: The Movie on VHS. It was $10. I but no matter how much I begged, my mom wouldn't get it for me. I was told "next time." But there was no next time. It was the last one when I was at that store the last time, and when we went back it was gone. We checked the Suncoast Videos, not there. Blockbuster video to rent it, not there. I always kept an eye out for it but I never did find it.

Years went by, the internet came into houses. And I found that I could buy it! From $18 on dvd to over $100 still sealed VHS copies. Being that I'm currently unemployed, I can't afford to buy it but I found it entirely online on youtube! Awesome. I linked it below so you can watch it too.

This is amazing. As a huge fan of Sonic, I was so excited to see that it was the same style of art from the Sonic CD anime intro and outro videos. Localisation to US edited the VHS version of the film, but the DVD and version below are unedited. Including Sonic getting hit in the balls, Tails grabbing some tits, and Sonic giving Metal Robotnik the finger. If you enjoy anime and old school OVA style stuff, you'll like this. It's over the top, silly, funny, dumb, great action, and just my childhood wrapped up into a blue ball of "Fuck Yeah."

Movie of the Week: CM Punk: Best in the World

Hey guys and gals, Bobby here. As the title says, this is the "movie" of the week. I know, I know, this isn't a film really...it's a documentary. Not only is it a documentary, it's a documentary about a "wrassler"! Why would you want to watch a documentary about a fake pro wrassler? Well, because this is probably one of the best wrestling documentaries ever released, and it's a great documentary in general. Not only is it about a wrestler and his wrestling career, it's a really interesting story about someone from Chicago who people thought wasn't going to be good enough. The music in this is great, The Bouncing Souls kick it off, and of course Lars from Rancid is interviewed quite a bit for it. So any how, trust me when I say this is a great watch, not just for a wrestling fan, but for anyone interested in a great documentary. This is on Netflix's instant queue, so check it out!

House Of Cards Review

On Friday Netflix released its first original series, House of Cards. With it they did something new. They released 13 episodes of season one on the first day. No waiting a week for a new one to come on or those annoying "season breaks" a lot of shows are taking after only 4 or so episodes of being back. Now, Netflix is taking a big risk with this show. They sank $100 million into it, paying for 2 season up front. This is great for the creators of the show, giving them breathing room, allowing time to build and write a story they want. Netflix also managed to grab some great talent on the show. Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, and Kate Mara just to name a few. While this maybe Netflix's first stab at producing a show, not just what they did for Lilyhammer (which was purchase distribution rights to be the first to air it in America), it is still not a true original show. 

 House of Cards is based on of the show of the same name from the BBC. That happens to be a popular trend these days with American entertainment. Rebooting old shows/movies or Americanizing British television. I for one am happy that they just haven't tried Americanizing Doctor Who yet. Whats that internet? America is trying to make a Doctor Who movie? Yeah, that was a rumor, the BBC shut that shit down real quick after the uproar from fans pointing out that it would have been an Awful idea. Whats that internet? What about Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure? That was more a comical nod to Doctor Who, not a remake. Get your head out of your ass internet and focus. Back on task. Now, I have not seen the original House of Cards, nor had I heard of it before the American series. Hell, I didn't hear about the American one til about a month or so ago. I may try to find the original and check it out, but it may be too British for me. I might just have to put Danny on that one. What was I doing? Oh right...
