"We LOVE movies! The Movie Knights is a movie reviewing podcast. I've described it as like when Daniel Tosh goes over movies on his show Tosh.0 and spoils everything, only less racist. Dan, Bobby, and myself (Josh) host this weekly show and review usually new to dvd/blu-ray films. Now, podcasts are well and good, and we love our listeners, but we want to be bigger. So we need to take the next step, and that step is videos. Trouble is that making videos costs money. Money we don't have. We would love to get paid to do this but we don't.

Our dream is a multi hd camera type show, with high quality audio, great lighting, and the editing to bring it all together. We need web space for hosting, and hard drives to hold our videos. We want to offer our videos free for anyone to watch, just like our podcast. While occasionally making skits or parodies of movies. It has taken up until now for us to need to ask for help.
I have been making videos since I was in high school, and that was 10 years ago... geez I'm old. And making podcasts for about 3+ years. I have had that feeling of always being one step behind my goals due to lack of funding. With your backing you can help build a podcast into a webshow and hopefully into the network I see in the future!"

So I was recently watching an episode of Game of Thrones on my Kindle Fire through my HBO Go app and I thought; "What other stuff is on here?" A quick search through their movies and I found this film. I had never heard of it. I never saw a trailer, read a review, or even knew who was in it. I only knew the title and the description you see above. But I was sold because I love time travel stories. And this movie is funny. I think I enjoyed it more because I never heard of it and went in blind. Sure Anna Faris is in it, but I didn't know that until I saw the opening credits. That had me worried that it would be a shitty comedy, a bad parody, or worse; feature a lot of Anna Faris's bad acting. But she is barely in this movie and she doesn't do a bad job or make me want to stab myself in the eyes at all this time around. It's a British comedy, and co-presented by the BBC as well as HBO. It's a location movie where they stay in one place the whole time but done in a way that doesn't feel like it. As well as you can actually feel like these guys are friends and feel like friends I have. It's not over the top and it doesn't leave you feeling like you wasted your time. The effects aren't bad either.

The trailer below is only if you need further help pushing you to want to watch the movie. I recommend going into to it with out watch it, but to each's own. It's fun, different, a nice story, and very enjoyable. Not the best, but good. Check it out if you have HBO Go, or buy the dvd on Amazon. Frequency is one of my top ten, all time, favorite movies.  Whenever someone asks the hypothetical "what movies would you take with you if you were stuck on a desert island" type questions, this is one of the ones that isn't porn which makes the list.  For as good as the movie is, it often baffles me how few people have even heard of it, especially with the gaining popularity of Jim Caviezel with his roles in the show Person of Interest and the film Jesus and the Amazing Technicolor Ass-beating. (that's just what I always thought Passion of the Christ ought to have been called) 

Jim Caviezel plays a New York cop by the name of John Sullivan.  He is what I would call basically lost.  He's no good with relationships, he drinks more than he should, and the only family he has is his mother.  His life is just kind of missing something ya know?  Dennis Quaid, on the other hand plays Frank Sullivan, a New York firefighter, Mets fan, family man, and all around good guy.  He's good people that Frank Sullivan.  Good guy to have around.  Yeah.  Anyway, one night while fiddling around with his father's old ham radio, John crosses frequencies with Frank and they start a conversation.   They soon discover that the radios they are talking on just happen to have identical call signs, and they are actually father and son, separated by 30 years.  (Holy shit! Solar flares be crazy!) John frantically explains that his father died in a fire 30 years ago, which just happens to be the next day for Frank.  The next day Frank ends up in a burning building that John had described and manages to survive the fire.  (Yay!)  The problem is, now that Frank has survived, John's mother is no longer alive in the present and was murdered 30 years ago for some reason.  (Dun dun dun!...I'm sorry, I've having too much fun with this)  So, now the two men have to team up 30 years apart to try and prevent his mother's murder.  Awesome. (I've said 30 a lot)

My reasons for liking this movie are actually rather simple.  It has solid acting, warm and believable characters, and an interesting and original story.  It definitely gets bonus points from me for having space/time continuum elements and alternate reality kind of stuff in it, but this is not a time travel movie.  That stuff is merely an effective tool for delivering a suspenseful and well paced story.  That's really it.  I don't want to give too much away because I think this movie is something that everyone should really just watch and experience.  So just watch it.

Movie of the Week: Bully

So it's time for another movie of the week, which can only mean one thing....ANOTHER DOCUMENTARY! I'm sticking to my little trend of suggesting a documentary on Netflix, and this week we have a really emotional one. Instead of just recommending this to you, I'm kind of going to go into detail talking about this movie.

First of all, I have been bullied. I'm not the first person to get bullied, and I'm surely not the last person to get bullied. Getting picked on at school was one of the many reasons why I decided to get in trouble and do the best I could to avoid school at all costs. This also lead me to treating other kids like crap, because I thought that would some how make me "cooler". It's really fucking stupid, and I regret how I behaved in Jr. High and High School. No one deserves to be treated like they don't matter, to be name called constantly in a very serious manner, or to be physically attacked by others for absolutely no reason. Being picked on yourself isn't a reason to mess with others who did nothing at all wrong to you.

Now as far as this film goes, it's very sad and at times gets hard to watch. I'll just warn you right off the bat, if you're a really emotional person who doesn't like movies that will make you feel depressed, this is NOT the movie for you. As a person who has both depression and anxiety issues, this movie really bummed me out. There were times when someone would do or say something, so I would pause the movie and just yell at the screen "PEOPLE ARE FUCKING TERRIBLE! I HATE EVERYONE!" This is one of those movies that makes you lose hope in humanity. Both because the parents raising these children did a terrible job, the teachers and other staff at the schools are doing a terrible job, and the children themselves are ass holes.

There is one kid in particular that I really felt bad for. He's literally just trying to make a friend on the school bus, when the other kid tells him that he's going to cut his face off and kill him. Yeah. This actually happened. Just seeing what this kid has to go through every day at school, just because of the way he looks, is really sad. It even leads to his younger sister saying she gets made fun of due to her being related to him. That's just fucked up.

Even in my recent years I've been a huge ass hole to people, most of whom didn't deserve it. I feel like I've made some really good strides and have tried to treat others how I'd like to be treated. I now choose to bull shit and joke around, and not be a ruthless dick head to people for no reason. This movie really showed me how much you can really mess up someone's life just by treating them so poorly. It also showed me that people really should do a better job raising their children. Seriously, it shouldn't be hard to tell them not to be a such a fucking dick to other children.

This movie isn't for everybody, but I think it's really worth a watch. It is on Netflix right now, so check it out!

Hit And Run Review

I saw the preview for this movie wasn't sure what to make of it. I had no desire to see it in theater bur when it came to redbox I got it. Dax Shepard plays a guy in witness protection, his girl friend (played by Kristen Bell) get a job offer but has to move for it. Rather than lose his girlfriend, Dax decides to brake protocall and leave to take his girlfriend to her interview. Her Ex boyfriend  played by Michael Rosenbaum fears that Dax is going to kill her, fallows them, find out his real name and uses that info to inform the criminal that Dax is hiding from where he is. This leads to some crazy car chases and some nice driving.

Dax Shepard wrote and co-directed this movie and I gotta say, I enjoyed it. The humor was right up my alley and the writing was pretty good. The car chases were really fun and it has a great comedic cast. Dax really shines in this movie. There is not much to say about it, other than it's a solid 3 star movie and worth your time to check out.
